In Brazil we recommend using UBER BLACK as cars are more comfortable and drivers are more experienced.

Tourist Information

Welcome to Rio de Janeiro, or simply Rio, the second-most-populous city in Brazil (after São Paulo). Rio is known as the Marvelous City, hosting a series of important events in recent years, such as the final of the FIFA World Cup 2014, the 2016 Summer Olympics, and the 2016 Summer Paralympics.

Since the early 2010s, Rio de Janeiro has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its arts, urban culture, and designed landscapes around a natural environment. In 2024, Rio was chosen as the Capital of G20, gathering the 19 greatest economies and the European Union.

In addition to experiencing the CDC 2025 scientific program, we invite you to explore the attractions that granted Rio the title of Marvelous City. In front of the conference site, you can enjoy the Barra da Tijuca Beach (Praia da Barra da Tijuca), a 14,4 Km beach with all the expected leisure infrastructure and several options to eat in front of the ocean. There are also several beach options close to the conference, such as Praia da Reserva (Reserva's Beach), Praia do Recreio, Praia da Macumba, Praia do Secreto, Prainha, and Grumari. In the neighborhood of the conference, there are also interesting sites, such as the Barra Forest (Bosque da Barra), the Burle Marx Site (Sítio Burle Marx), which has a collection of more than 3 thousand plant species and rare decorative artifacts, or make a boat ride on the Marapendi Lagoon.

If you prefer an adventure, a trail can guarantee a wonderful view of the skyline of Rio. In the São Conrado neighborhood, you can enjoy the Pedra Bonita trail, where you can see all of Barra da Tijuca beaches after a 45-minute walk. In the surroundings of Barra da Tijuca, there is the Pedra do Telégrafo, where, due to an optical illusion, you can take photos as if you are jumping from a hill (but don't worry, there is no danger). If you are looking for a particular hard adventure, you can try the Pedra da Gávea trail. The Pedra da Gávea is one of the highest hills in the world that ends in the sea, which provides a spectacular view. However, the trail is challenging, it is a 1,670 km steep walk with a few climbing patches along the way.
